There are different ways to add eBooks to an Amazon Kindle. You can do this from the Amazon website over Wi-Fi. You can also use an email address or your Kindle's USB cable to transfer eBooks from your computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Transfer from Amazon over Wi-Fi

Step 1. Make sure your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi
You must connect your Kindle to the Internet before you can accept incoming files.
If your Kindle is unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network, you will need to use a USB cable to transfer an eBook

Step 2. Open Amazon
Open the Amazon website in your computer's web browser. If you are logged in, it will directly display the home page.
- If you are not logged in, select Accounts and Lists, click on Log in, then enter your email address and password.

Step 3. Go to Account and Lists
This option is at the top right of the page. Click on it to display a drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click Kindle Content & Devices
You will find this option at the bottom right of the drop-down menu.

Step 5. Select your book
Click the check mark to the left of the book you want to transfer to your Kindle.
You may need to scroll down the page to find the book you're interested in

Step 6. Click Deliver
It's the yellow button at the top left of the page. Click on it to open a pop-up window.

Step 7. Click on the Selected devices field
This option is in the middle of the pop-up window. Click on it to display a drop-down menu.

Step 8. Select your Kindle
Click the name of your Kindle from the drop-down menu.

Step 9. Choose Deliver
It's the yellow button at the bottom right of the window. Click on it to move the eBook to your Kindle as long as the Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi.
Method 2 of 3: Forward by email

Step 1. Make sure your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi
Your Kindle needs to be connected to the Internet in order to receive incoming files.
If your Kindle is unable to connect to Wi-Fi, you will need to go through a USB cable to transfer an eBook

Step 2. Open Amazon
Go to Amazon.com from a web browser. This will open your Amazon home page if you are logged in.
- If you are not logged in, select Accounts and Lists, click on Log in then enter your email address followed by your password.

Step 3. Select Accounts & Lists
This option is located at the top right of the page and displays a drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click Kindle Content & Devices
This is the option at the bottom right of the drop-down menu.

Step 5. Go to the Preferences tab
You'll find it at the top of the page.

Step 6. Scroll down to Personal Document Settings
This header is in the middle of the page. Click on it to display different options below.

Step 7. Click the Add a new approved email address link
You'll find it at the bottom of the Personal Document Settings section. Click on it to display a pop-up window.
If you already have an email address, make sure you know it and then go to the next step

Step 8. Add an email address
Type the email address you use for your Kindle, then click Add an address.

Step 9. Open your email inbox
It can be any email account (eg Gmail).

Step 10. Create a new email
Click on the button New Where Compose to open a new email then add your email address next to the To text field.

Step 11. Add your eBook as an attachment
Click the attachment icon

, then select your eBook file.
- Your eBook can be in AZW, PDF or MOBI format. If it is not in one of these formats, you will need to convert it before sending it.
- For most email services, attachments cannot exceed 25MB in size.

Step 12. Send your email
Click on the button Send. As long as your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi, the eBook will be sent and downloaded to it.
Method 3 of 3: Transfer any eBook via USB

Step 1. Download an eBook from Amazon
If you have an Amazon eBook that you want to transfer to your Kindle via USB, go to Amazon and sign in if necessary. Then do the following:
- select Accounts and Lists;
- go in Kindle content and devices;
- click on … to the left of a book;
- choose Download and transfer via USB;
- select your Kindle from the drop-down menu;
- click on OK.

Step 2. Convert your eBook if necessary
If your eBook is not yet in PDF, AZW, or MOBI format, you will need to convert it before you can put it on your Kindle.
- Go to the epubconverter site in your computer's web browser.
- On the left of the page, select a converter based on the original file and the file you are trying to get.
- Click on Add a file.
- Select your eBook file.
- Choose To open.
- Click on Start download.
- Select the link of the MOBI file in the Download Link column to download it to your computer.

Step 3. Copy the MOBI file
Click on your eBook's MOBI file to select it and then press Ctrl + C (on Windows) or Command + C (on Mac) to copy the file.

Step 4. Connect your Kindle to your computer
Insert the charging end of your Kindle's charger cable into the charging port and then the USB end into one of the USB ports on your computer.
If you're using a Mac, you probably don't have traditional USB ports. In this case, you will need a USB 3.0 to USB-C adapter for your computer

Step 5. Open the Kindle
The process for this step will vary depending on whether you are using a Windows computer or a Mac.

On Windows: open To start up
Windowsstart , click on Files
Windowsstartexplorer , select This PC then double-click on the name of your Kindle.

On Mac: open the Finder
Macfinder2 , then click the name of your Kindle on the left of the window. Your Kindle may also appear on the desktop.

Step 6. Open the Documents folder
Double click on the folder Documents Where Internal documents in your Kindle's storage folder.
- You may need to unlock the Kindle first or double-click the folder Internal storage.
- If you're using a Kindle Fire, open the folder instead Books.

Step 7. Paste the MOBI file
Click on an empty space in the folder and then press Ctrl + V (if you're using a Windows computer) or Command + V (if you're using a Mac).

Step 8. Wait for the transfer to complete
You can continue when the indicator light on your Kindle cable stops flashing.

Step 9. Eject your Kindle
This is to ensure that files are backed up before disconnecting the Kindle from the computer.
