In France, it is common to have to insert the euro symbol (€) in a document. Typing is simple, although it varies depending on the device you are using: desktop computer, smartphone or tablet. This symbol, like others, can be obtained by a combination of keys or by selecting it from an array of secondary characters. It all depends on your device and the operating system that drives it.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: In Windows

Step 1. Open the document in which you need the euro symbol
This symbol can be typed in any document or field that supports letters: Word document, note, email …

Step 2. Hold down both Control keys and Alt.
This combination allows, by typing another key, to display special characters, such as the euro.

Step 3. Press the E key
With the Control and alt = "Image" keys still held down, press E and the euro symbol will appear in the designated location. It works in any Microsoft Office document.
- In some versions of Windows, the 4 key, not the E, is used to make the euro symbol.
- The combination varies from one keyboard layout to another. If the previous combinations did not work as you expected, try these: Control + Alt + 5 or alt = "Image" Gr + E.

Step 4. Copy and paste
This is the good old fashioned way: copy the € symbol in this article and paste it into whatever text you want. It also works with the euro symbols that you find on a web page.

Step 5. Look for the symbol in the Character Map
Run the Character Map by typing character in the search box on the taskbar. Locate the € symbol, double-click it, and then choose Copy.

⊞ Win +. or ⊞ Win +;, select the item on the left Currencies, then right-click on the euro symbol.
Method 2 of 3: In macOS

Step 1. Open the document in which you want the euro symbol
This symbol can be typed in any document that supports letters: Pages or Text-Edit document, note, email …

Step 2. Hold down both Shift keys and ⌥ Option.
These keys allow other less frequently used characters to appear.
On Mac keyboards, there is either the alt key = "Image" or the ⌥ Option key, their role is identical: press the Shift and Alt keys

Step 3. Press l

If you press this key while the other two are still pressed, you will see the € symbol on the screen.
- This key combination is the same for most input methods (American, British keyboard, etc.), it is very useful for texts in a foreign language.
- However, on some keyboards, in Russian to name just this one, the combination for the euro is different: Shift + ⌥ Option + 4.

Step 5. Display the table of emoticons and symbols
The keyboard shortcut is Control + Command + Space (or menu Editing, then Emoji and symbols), locate the € symbol, then simply click on it.
Method 3 of 3: On a smartphone or tablet

Step 1. Open the text where you need the euro symbol
You can enter this symbol with a slight change to the keyboard display in any text app, document, message, note, or text field.

Step 2. Press where you want to insert
Tap exactly where you want the symbol in the text. The keyboard then appears conventionally at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Press the correct button
At the bottom left, press the key
123 (iPhone) or the? 123 (Android) key. The keys on your keyboard are now very different.
With Android devices, this key is marked 12 # or something very similar. Either way, you'll always find it in the lower left corner of the keyboard

Step 4. Press the correct button
At the bottom left, press the key
# + = (iPhone) or the = \ <(Android) key. This key is above the ABC key: other characters then appear.

With Android devices, the transform key may have a different name, but it will always be above that key.

Step 5. Locate and then press the € key
Now all you have to do is look at your new character display, locate and press the euro sign (€). It then magically appears in your text field.
