To prevent your Instagram account from automatically subscribing to other accounts, you'll need to make sure that no one other than you can access it. Before changing your password, make sure that no unauthorized applications have permanent access to your account. You will need to perform these different steps on a web browser, whether from a computer, your phone or a tablet.

You will find this link in the menu on the left of the page, under Change Password.

Step 5. Click Remove

Click on To delete, below the apps and sites you want to remove from your Instagram. You will see two tabs: active and expired. On the tab active, delete all apps and websites that have access to your Instagram account and that you don't recognize.

  • For example, you can link your Instagram and TikTok accounts and you will then see the latter appear on this tab. If you've ever used a bot to get subscribers, it will also appear on one of these tabs.

This will be the first link in the menu, next to a small key.

Step 7. Enter your current password

To change your password, you will need to enter the current password correctly, in the Current password text box.

Step 8. Enter your new password twice

You will need to enter the chosen password and confirm it, before you can continue. If you do not write the password the same way in both fields, you will need to re-enter them before continuing.

Make sure your password is at least 8 characters long and contains a combination of letters, numbers and symbols

Step 9. Click the check mark

You will find it in the upper right corner of the screen. You will only be able to click the check mark if your current password is correct and both passwords are the same.

You will receive an email confirming that your password has been changed

You will be able to change your password on a Mac or Windows computer, as well as on a mobile browser.
